The anticipation surrounding Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC 2023) continues to build. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman confirms the imminent arrival of a refreshed Mac Studio model at the event.
Codenamed “J475,” this next-generation Mac Studio with M2 Ultra is expected to make its debut at WWDC 2023, adding excitement to an already highly anticipated keynote.
Mac Studio with M2 Ultra, codenamed “J475,” under testing
Mark Gurman share the news on Twitter stating that Apple was nearing the introduction of a refreshed Mac Studio model. As the current Mac Studio is codenamed “J375”, the new machine with the codename “J475” hints at a significant update to Apple’s desktop computer lineup.
“Can confirm Apple is nearing the introduction of a new Mac codenamed J475. What’s the codename of the current Mac Studio? J375.”
Earlier reports by Gurman highlighted that Apple has been testing two desktop Macs equipped with the powerful M2 Max and M2 Ultra chips. The M2 Max chip was introduced earlier this year with the launch of the 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro models.
The M2 Ultra chip is a new addition and will succeed the M1 Ultra chip currently used in the Mac Studio.
According to Gurman, the M2 Max Mac being tested features eight high-performance cores, four efficiency cores, a 30-core GPU, and 96GB of RAM. These specifications align with the M2 Max version found in the 16-inch MacBook Pro.
The M2 Ultra Mac, on the other hand, is reported to boast 16 high-performance cores, eight efficiency cores, and a 60-core GPU. Previous information suggests that the M2 Ultra may offer configurations with up to 76 GPU cores. Memory options for the M2 Ultra range from 64GB to 192GB, providing users with ample power for demanding tasks.
Gurman’s insights suggest that Apple is conducting tests on these new Macs just days ahead of the WWDC keynote. While Gurman stops short of explicitly stating that the new Mac Studio will be unveiled at the event, it seems highly likely given the timing and the focus on multiple Mac introductions.
In addition to the refreshed Mac Studio, industry experts anticipate the reveal of an all-new 15-inch MacBook Air model, further adding to the excitement surrounding Apple’s upcoming announcements.
Apple fans eagerly await the forthcoming WWDC 23 keynote, fueled by Mark Gurman’s confirmation of a refreshed Mac Studio model in the pipeline. As the countdown to WWDC continues, all eyes remain fixed on Apple as they prepare to showcase its latest innovations to the world.
