Apple has released macOS Monterey 12.2.1 to all users. The update fixes a battery drain bug on Intel Macs, related to Bluetooth, as well as a security patch for WebKit.
Apple had previously released macOS Monterey 12.2 with a fix for Safari data leak bug, and scrolling improvements in the browser on MacBook Pro models with 120Hz ProMotion displays. The last major update was macOS Monterey 12.1, which was released with SharePlay, Apple Music Voice Plan, Digital Legacy for Apple ID, and other features.
What’s new in macOS Monterey 12.2.1?
The update fixes a bug that caused battery drain on Macs while they were in sleep mode. The issue seems to be limited to just Intel-based Macs, as per Apple’s release notes. It was recently reported that macOS 12.3 beta 2 also included a fix for the battery drain issue.
macOS 12.2.1 provides important security updates and fixes an issue for Intel-based Mac computers that may cause the battery to drain during sleep when connected to Bluetooth peripherals.
The update also fixes a security flaw in WebKit that could allow arbitrary code execution. Apple’s release notes say that this issue may have been actively exploited.
