Following the MacBook Pro (2021) event, Apple announced that the new macOS Monterey update will be available on October 25 along with iOS 15.1, iPadOS 15.1, watchOS 8.1, and tvOS 15.1 updates. However, the Universal Control feature will not be part of the release this month and will launch later this year. Apple also seeded macOS Monterey Release Candidate prior to its public launch, next week.
Universal Control will launch later this fall
Announced at the WWDC 21 event, the Universal Control will allow users to easily use their Mac Keyboard and mouse or trackpad to move between another Mac or an iPad to control it. It will also let users drag and drop files between multiple devices, seamlessly. All users will have to do is to log in with their Apple ID on respective devices, Universal Control does not require any setup equipment or software.
However, this feature is not ready yet for launch. On the Apple support page for macOS Monterey, listing all of the new features coming on October 25, it is mentioned that Universal Control along with few other features will not be part of the upcoming update.
