Microsoft announces up to $4 price increase for Microsoft 365, effective from 2022

Microsoft will be increasing the commercial pricing for Microsoft 365, a cloud service that offers a variety of productivity apps like Word, Excel PowerPoint, and more. The company says that it is the first substantive pricing update after 10 years because of an increase in the suites’ value over time. In addition, new audio conferencing capabilities are also included in the update.

New Microsoft 365 pricing and unlimited dial-in capabilities coming in 2022

It must be noted that the company is only increasing the commercial cost for Microsoft 365 while pricing for education and consumer products will remain unchanged. From March 1, 2022, the following pricing changes will be in effect worldwide:

  • Microsoft 365 Business Basic (from $5 to $6 per user)
  • Microsoft 365 Business Premium (from $20 to $22)
  • Office 365 E1 (from $8 to $10)
  • Office 365 E3 (from $20 to $23)
  • Office 365 E5 (from $35 to $38)
  • Microsoft 365 E3 (from $32 to $36)

As explained in the announcement post, the company will be adding “unlimited dial-in capabilities for Microsoft Teams meetings across our enterprise, business, frontline, and government suites over the next few months.” The new feature is designed to allow team members to easily join Teams meetings when on the go or facing poor connectivity. Currently, the feature is offered with Microsoft 365 E5 and Office 365 E5 subscriptions in more than seventy countries with support for 44 languages and dialects. The says that “unlimited dial-in provides peace of mind that users will be able to join their Teams meeting from virtually any device regardless of location.”

With 24 apps in the productivity suite, and over 1,400 features and capabilities in communication and collaboration, security and compliance, and AI and automation, the company says that it aims to introduce innovative new tools to meet users’ needs.
