New Apple TV+ Originals to premiere in 2022 and beyond: Cha Cha Real Smooth, Luck and others

Apple TV+ has announced the slate of new Apple Original Films scheduled to release globally in theaters and on Apple TV+ in 2022 and beyond. 

Apple TV+ Original Films premiering in 2022 

This Summer 

Cha Cha Real Smooth Apple TV+

  • “Luck”, an animated movie about the unluckiest girl in the world from Skydance. Starring Jane Fonda, Whoopi Goldberg, Simon Pegg and others, the new film will premiere on August 5.

Apple TV+

  • An untitled documentary by Oprah Winfrey and Reginald Hudlin on the life and career of the late Sidney Poitier will also air on August 5. 

Later this Fall 

  • “Black & Blues: The Colorful Ballad of Louis Armstrong” documentary on his life and legacy as a founding father of jazz. 
  • “Raymond & Ray”, starring Ewan McGregor and Ethan Hawke tells the story of two half brothers living under the rule of a terrible father.

Apple TV+

  • “The Greatest Beer Run Ever” by Peter Farrelly is a drama-comedy based on the true story of John “Chickie” Donohue starring Zac Efron and Russell Crowe.

Holiday Season 

  • “Spirited”, the modern musical rendition of Charles Dickens’ classic holiday story “A Christmas Carol” starring Ryan Reynolds, Will Ferrell, and Octavia Spencer.

  • “Emancipation”, a movie by Antoine Fuqua and Will Smith on the struggle of a man escaping from slavery.

The following original titles will premiere beyond 2022. 

  • “Killers of the Flower Moon”, a movie by Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio that follows the serial murder of members of the oil-wealthy Osage Nation, a period known as the Reign of Terror.

  • “Argylle”, a spy thriller by Matthew Vaughn starring Henry Cavill, Dua Lipa, and others.

  • “Sharper”, a suspense thriller set in New York City by writers Brian Gatewood and Alessandro Tanaka. 
  • “Tetris” will tell the story of the iconic compute game starring Taron Egerton.
  • “Napoleon” by Ridley Scott and starring Joaquin Phoenix as the French military leader. 
  • “Number One on the Call Sheet”, a documentary celebrating Black leading women and men in Hollywood.
  • “Ghosted”, a romantic action-adventure movie starring Chris Evans and Ana de Armas.
  • “Spellbound”, the story of a young girl who resolves to break the spell that split her kingdom into two. 
  • “The Beanie Bubble” documentary inspired by the true craze of American culture starring Elizabeth Banks, Zach Galifianakis, and Geraldine Viswanathan.

As per the announcement, the following Apple TV+ originals are currently in development. 

  • “Bad Blood” by Adam McKay on the rise and fall of Theranos CEO Elizabeth Holmes starring Jennifer Lawrence. 
  • “Bride”, a genre-bending movie by Scarlett Johansson.
  • “Snow Blind” with Jake Gyllenhaal. 
  • New Sue Mengers biopic starring Jennifer Lawrence.
  • “Dolly”, a film by Vanessa Taylor and Drew Pearce. 
  • An adaption of “Being Heumann”, Judy Heumann’s bestselling memoir from Siân Heder.
  • A biopic of Audrey Hepburn
  • A thriller movie written and directed by Jon Watts and starring George Clooney and Brad Pitt on two lone fixers.
