Apple has released the latest iOS 16.3 to everyone after several weeks of beta testing the update. Although deemed a minor update, the new iOS 16.3 version brings a few notable features on compatible iPhone models.

iOS 16.3 brings Security Keys, expands Advanced Data Protection globally, and more
The new update includes the following five new changes and several fixes:
Unity wallpaper
For Black History month, Apple announced the 2023 Unity collection which included the new Unity wallpapers for watchOS and iOS.
Supports HomePod 2
Newly HomePod 2 is now supported on iOS 16.3 and iPadOS 16.3. Users will be able to connect to the smart speaker which features a touch interface, humidity and temperature sensors, Sound Recognition, Thread connectivity, and more.
Emergency SOS
To prevent accidental emergency calls, iOS 16.3 introduced new behavior to make Emergency SOS calls via the “Call with Hold and Release” mechanism. Now, Emergency SOS calls will be made by pressing the side button and one of the volume buttons and releasing them.
Advanced Data Protection for iCloud
Now, Advanced Data Protection for iCloud is available to all users worldwide.
Security Keys
iOS 16.3 users can add physical Security Keys from third-party providers to their Apple ID as an additional security measure to keep their accounts safe from attacks.

- Issue with Siri not responding to music requests.
- Issue where Siri requests in CarPlay were not correctly understood.
- Issue in Freeform which drawing strokes did not appear on shared boards.
- Issue where the Home app’s Lock Screen widget did not display accurate status.
- Issue where Lock Screen’s wallpaper appeared black.
- Several security vulnerabilities with Screen Time, Weather, the kernel, Safari and others.
