According to Petri, the public preview of the Mac client for the new Microsoft Teams is to be available sometime later in early September 2023. This means that it could be released any day now, but there is no specific date yet.

The new Microsoft Teams is a major overhaul of the popular collaboration app. It features a new user interface, improved performance, and new features such as Together Mode, which allows users to appear as if they are in the same physical space.

Some of the new features that are coming to the Mac version of Microsoft Teams:

  • A new user interface that is more modern and easier to use
  • Improved performance, with faster loading times and smoother animations
  • New features for collaboration, such as the ability to co-edit documents and whiteboards
  • Integration with other Microsoft products, such as Office 365 and Dynamics 365

The Mac version of the new Teams is still in development, so it is not yet clear when it will be released to the general public. However, the public preview in early September should give users a chance to try out the new app and provide feedback to Microsoft.

Key differences between the new Microsoft Teams for Mac and the current version:

  • The new Teams app is built on a new framework that is more efficient and uses less memory. This means that it will run faster and smoother on your Mac.
  • The new Teams app has a more modern design that is more consistent with other Microsoft apps.
  • The new Teams app has a simpler navigation system that makes it easier to find what you’re looking for.
  • The new Teams app includes a number of new features, such as the ability to share your screen and record meetings.

In the meantime, if users are using Microsoft Teams on a Mac, they can still use the current version of the app. The current version will continue to be supported until the new version is released.
