Niantic and Capcom unveil new Monster Hunter AR game for iOS and Android

Pokemon Go creators Niantic and Capcom have teamed up to bring the new AR game Monster Hunter for mobile devices running iOS or Android, via a new title called “Monster Hunter Now”.

Developed by both Niantic and Capcom Monster Hunter Now is an RPG in which players team up with others to encounter and hunt incredible monsters, and harvest their components for weapons and armor in the real world.

Monster Hunter Now is a new and unprecedented Monster Hunter game that entices players to go out with their Palico and encounter incredible monsters in the real world.

The companies also released a trailer video, showing off some of the gameplay and a few monsters have also been confirmed to be in the game, including the series mascot Rathalos, the agile Kulu-Ya-Ku, and the poison-spitting Pukei-Pukei. Watch the teaser trailer for Monster Hunter Now below:

Incredible Monster Hunter monsters such as Rathalos, Pukei-Pukei, Great Izuchi, and others will be found in real-world areas and multiple players will be able to work together to defeat them. And after defeating the monsters components can be collected to create upgraded weapons, armor, potions, and other accessories.

According to Pokémon GO creators Niantic, “Monster Hunter Now” is set to launch worldwide in September 2023. And interested players can sign up at monsterhunternow.com for a chance to be selected for upcoming closed beta tests of the game. However, only 10 000 players will be able to get access to the beta.

Monster Hunter Now will be distributed by Niantic and licensed by CAPCOM. The global launch is scheduled for September 2023 and the game will be available on the App Store and Google Play.
