The developer of the popular Pokemon Go game, Niantic has announced that it is developing a new “Peridot” augmented reality game on iOS which will allow users to explore the world with adorable virtual pets by their side.
Previously, Niantic launched “Pikmin Bloom” on iOS, an activity-based AR game that allows users to have a unique and exciting outdoor walking experience with Pikmins, flowers, and more.
The upcoming “Peridot” game delivers a whole new experience with pets as part of their digital world; to care for them, watch them grow, and develop a bond.

Through the camera of the upcoming ‘Peridot’ game, users will get to enjoy an all-new, real-world AR mobile game to keep their adorable virtual pets wherever they are like accompanying them on daily walks, hanging out for teatime, or other activities.
As per the snapshots shared in the announcement post, users will also be able to under hidden treasures, play with Peridots, explore new places, capture memories, breed new generations of Peridots, and discover different Peridot archetypes, share discoveries with friends, and more.
You’ll foster your own Peridots as you embark on this experience. These are creatures who feel so real, you’ll love every moment raising them from birth to adulthood. While you explore the world together, you’ll get to learn more about your cute new friends, develop a bond as you nurture and play with them, and work with other players to diversify their species.
To test the new AR game, Niantic will soft launch it in select regions to wrinkle out the performance issues during the testing and iterating phase with the help of feedback from beta testers.
