Opera announced that its browser now supports M1 Macs. The company says that the natively compatible with Apple Silicon Macs will deliver a faster browsing experience. “Apple wants you to be happy, and so does Opera, which is why we’ve made your browsing on Macs with M1 even faster.” At the time of launch, Apple introduced its first-generation Mac processor with Rosetta 2 to allow users to run Intel-based apps on their new devices and to give developers time to transitions their apps to the M1 chip.
Opera browser offers a faster browsing experience by using less processing capacity and a built-in ad blocker, its free VPN reduces users’ online tracking and protects their browsing history, built-in messenger to chat and search at the same time, and several customization options. And now the company offers an enhanced experience for M1 Mac users, “Opera natively supports the newest line of Apple M1 processors. With the transition from Intel to Apple Silicon chips, Apple is able to gain more control over the performance of Mac hardware and the software that runs on macOS.

The company states that the updated browser for Apple Silicon Mac delivers 2x faster browsing speed to the previous version, “this means faster access to your favorite websites, and quicker transition to Opera’s built-in features like WhatsApp, Telegram, Twitter and Instagram – all neatly packed into the sidebar.”

Furthermore, the updated Opera browser also offers new customization options to set keyboard shortcuts on iOS and Android which will allow users to quickly access Flow features with Opera. With end-to-end encryption, users can send texts, media, files across devices. As per the announcement, Opera browser users can set keyboard shortcuts in the following steps:
- Click the three-dot icon at the bottom of your sidebar
- Click the three-dot icon next to the feature and select Configure shortcuts
- Type your custom shortcut next to the feature
