A newer version, 1.3.1, of the webOS is now available for Palm Pre users just a day before the release of their Palm Pixi. The webOS has had 6 minor and major updates so far, making this the 7th in line. It is a 126MB update and can be installed via the software updater.
Although syncing your Palm Pre with iTunes is still not possible, there are a bunch of other new features which include :
- Yahoo! now appears as a calendar and contact synchronization account and is also available as instant messaging account.
- Widescreen videos, Youtube and otherwise, now display in widescreen mode on the phone by default, instead of being cropped.
- A new option is available for restarting the phone: press and hold power > Power > Restart. The prior restart method (Device Info > Reset Options > Restart) is still available.
- You can forward or copy a text or a multimedia message by tapping the message.
- You can select a unique ringtone for new message alerts: Open Messaging > application menu > Preferences & Accounts > Sound > Ringtone.
