Currently, there is no working jailbreak solution for PS3 firmware 3.56, though there have been tools like 3.56 firmware spoofer which help prevent accidental upgrade from a jailbroken 3.55 firmware but still don’t allow PSN access. Some of us might think that the developers and hackers won’t be able crack this one up as Sony is rumored to be developing a new hack-proof PlayStation 3 system already. But most certainly, this is NOT the case. It seems that hacker Mathieu Hervais has already found an exploitable bug for bootloader and firmware version 3.56.
However, the developer has refused to release the exploit ever to the public, due to Sony’s ongoing crackdown against PS3 hackers filing lawsuits against them. This clearly means Sony has succeeded in its mission of silencing the hackers forcing them to keep their exploits hidden forever due to fear of facing a lawsuit.
This is what Mathieu tweeted about this:
I hesitated a lot before tweeting about it, but a bug allows exploiting metldr, the bootloader and 3.56+. I don’t intent to ever unveil it.
