A new report by iDropNews claims that the next-generation Apple TV box will have a redesigned flatter and thinner shape with a plexiglass top. The publisher does not have any track record of leaks, therefore, this news should be taken with a pinch of salt.
In April this year, Apple launched the sixth-generation Apple TV 4K model powered by Bionic CPU, redesigned Siri remote, and automatic color balancing via iPhone. However, the new Apple TV box retains that same design language and name of the predecessor 4K model but with HDR video at higher frame rates and support 60FPS Dolby Vision playback over AirPlay from a compatible iPhone. Thus, the report states that the Apple TV set-top box in need of a major design update will bring back features of the first-generation Apple TV box with a modern touch.
Future Apple TV box will bring back an old design with a modern touch
As per the leak, the new set-top box will have the same flat edge-to-edge design language as the new Siri Remote, iPhone 13, and the latest iPad models. More interestingly, the box will feature box will have a plexiglass top and a flatter and thinner exterior with like first-generation Apple TV set-top box.
Apple is going to do to the next Apple TV what it’s also doing to the Mac mini. The upcoming Mac mini will look like the original Apple TV from 2006 in its updated design.
Furthermore, the report also claims that Apple is working on a new gaming console to compete with Nintendo switch.
New info that I have sourced is saying Apple is working on “their take of a premium hybrid gaming console” and that “games rivaling Breath of the Wild and Mario Odyssey” are almost ready to go.
Cupertino tech giant offers a gaming service, Apple Arcade with ad-free games without any in-app purchases. In iOS 14.5 update, the company added support for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X controllers. It sounds unlikely that Apple will build a console to compete with other gaming services.
