Valve has announced that the new Steam Mobile app is currently in the beta testing phase. After a wait of over 7 years, the app will be updated with new features like QR codes sign-in, and more.
In 2003, Valve launched “Steam” an online video games service on the web and mobile platforms. The current Steam Mobile app on iOS and Android enables users to manage their accounts, shop, receive game updates, and stay connected to the global Steam community. Despite the occasional bug fixes and security patches, Valve has not updated the Steam Mobile app with new capabilities since 2015.
Here is everything new coming to the Steam Mobile app in the future
As per the announcement, Valve has commenced a limited beta trial of the redesigned Steam Mobile app. In addition to the current capabilities, the app will include:
- New QR code sign-in
- Multi-account support
- Smarter notifications
- Improve Library
Today we’re starting a limited beta of the updated Steam Mobile App. We’ve rebuilt the app on a new framework and modernized the design. (2015 called and wanted their app back.) You’ll still be able to browse the store, get Steam Guard codes, and confirm trades, but now the app comes with QR code sign in, smarter notifications, an improved Library, and multi account support.
The company also invited Steam users to participate in its beta program to test the new app and share their feedback to wrinkle out the flaws and create a smooth functioning app across platforms.
The sooner we get your feedback on a product, the better. So when we’re far enough along, we ask invested Steam users to try something out and provide feedback. This helps us test our assumptions, learn what you like and don’t like, and find things that need to be fixed. This is especially important when the app can be used on so many different phones and devices.
However, Valve did not mention how long will the new Steam Mobile app be in beta testing or its public release date.
