3D renders of iPhone 13 show redesigned rear camera layout and smaller notch

Mysmartprice has shared 3D renders of iPhone 13 expected to launch later in 2021. The alleged images reveal that Apple will retain some of the features of the current iPhone 12 series and introduce new ones like camera layout, smaller notch, and others.

iPhone 13 might have a crowded notch and a new diagonal rear cameras design

As per the renders, the company has repositioned the three front cutouts in the notch which suggests that Apple might introduce two front cameras. In addition, there is a fourth cutout in the notch which will house a new sensor along with ambient light sensor, proximity, and others.

In this one though, the three cutouts are placed right next to each other, which makes you wonder why Apple would pick such a design unless it wanted to put two cameras on the front this year. The earpiece is placed above these three camera cutouts.

And while we’re on the subject of cutouts, the notch is especially crowded this time. There’s a fourth cutout that will perhaps house the other sensors — ambient light sensor, proximity etc — but here again the design seems questionable.

The surprise change is in the layout of the design of the rear camera. Unlike the current vertical placement of the rear camera, the iPhone 13 (base models) will have a diagonal design housed in a square like the Pro models. Having said that, Apple will not make any hardware changes like the rumored LiDAR sensor will not be used in the based models.

But that’s not the only change in design. The rear cameras have also been placed diagonally this time, but it doesn’t seem like Apple will change the overall specs. We still have four cutouts there, two on either corner of the module for the cameras, and two more for the flash and a noise-cancelling microphone. It doesn’t seem like the LIDAR sensor will make it to the iPhone 13 either, which makes sense, since Apple perhaps wants to keep its top augmented reality (AR) features for the Pro models.

Other industry sources have also made similar claims of a smaller notch coming in the next generation iPhone but the report of a designed rear camera is new.
