Samsung has shared a sneak peek at its upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Flip 4 smartphones in a video posted on YouTube. Titled Unpacked 2022: Official Trailer, the video hypes up the new foldable that Samsung will be announced at its event on Wednesday, August 10, 2022.
While Samsung and Apple go toe to toe when it comes to their flagship smartphones, foldables are a category in which the Cupertino giant does not compete yet. There have been news that Apple is working on developing its own foldable iPhone, but it is unlikely that it would launch such a device until foldable screens can be made without any creases.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4
During Unpacked 2022, Samsung is expected to announce Galaxy Z Fold 4, its flagship foldable smartphone. The design and features of the Galaxy Z Fold 4 have already been leaked over the past many months. The new foldable is expected to feature a thinner design due to the new hinge design, three new color options (beige, black, and grey), a 7.6-inch foldable display with a 120Hz refresh rate, and a side-mounted fingerprint sensor.
The smartphone will also feature upgraded cameras, which will include a layout similar to that of the Galaxy S22 Ultra. The camera system will feature a 50MP wide main sensor, 12MP ultrawide lens, and a 10MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom. A front-facing 4MP under-display camera will be featured on the internal foldable display, while the external display will feature a 10MP camera.
In terms of features, the Galaxy Z Fold 4 will feature the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus chipset, 12GB of RAM, and up to 512GB of storage.
There have also been rumors that the new Fold 4 will launch at a cheaper price compared to its predecessor.
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4
The Galaxy Z Flip 4 is expected to feature a redesigned hinge to make the phone profile thinner. It is expected to launch in gold, silver, light blue, and light violet colors. The fingerprint sensor will be located on the side. The display size will be the same as its predecessor, with a 6.7-inch internal display and a 1.9-inch external display.
In terms of performance, the smartphone will be powered by a Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 chip, while it will also feature a larger 3,700 mAh battery.
Alongside the aforementioned features, both smartphones will also get a new array of accessories, which will include silicon covers with straps, slim standing covers, and leather cover designs.
Samsung is also expected to announce its new Galaxy Watch 5 and Galaxy Buds Pro during the event.
Unpacked 2022 event will be live-streamed on YouTube on Wednesday, August 10, 2022, at 9:00 a.m. Eastern Time.
