Snap Inc. has launched a new lens creator rewards program as an additional opportunity for AR creators and developers on Snapchat to earn for their viral or popular Lenses on Snapchat in the United States, Mexico, and India.
The company states that it has a flourishing AR creators community with more than 300,000 members who have built more than 3 million Lenses with over 5 trillion views. When Apple introduced the LiDAR scanner in iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max, Snapchat was one of the first apps to leverage the tech by releasing an augmented reality (AR) Lens to deliver an immersive AR experience.
AR creators can earn rewards for their top-performing Lenses on Snapchat
Open to new and existing Lens Studio community members in 40 countries, the Lens Creator Rewards program offers AR creators a chance to earn up to $7,200 every month if their Lens becomes a top-performing Lens United States, Mexico, and India.
Over the past five years, we’ve enabled our AR community to build Lenses for brands and partners, experiment with creating Lenses with digital goods, and explore the future of AR today through our GHOST Innovation Lab and our Spectacles creator program. Today, we’re thrilled to offer a new way for AR creators to unleash new creative possibilities and grow their businesses.
It is a pilot program and its continuity is at Snap Inc.’s discretion. AR creators on Snapchat in the following regions have a chance to earn up to $7,200 monthly for their top-performing AR lenses.
Algeria, Argentina, Australia, Austria, Bahrain, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Denmark, Egypt, Finland, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Italy, Jordan, Korea (the Republic of), Kuwait, Libya, Mexico, Morocco, Netherlands (the), New Zealand, Nigeria, Norway, Oman, Palestine, Philippines (the), Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, United States.
To compete with TikTok, social media platforms like Snapchat and Instagram have adopted TikTok-like features adding music to videos and reward programs to attract creators.
Previously, Snapchat added the Spotlight section which shows the most entertaining Snaps in one place. The feature was launched with a $1 million reward for the most popular videos as a way to encourage creators to submit their videos.
