For small business owners, Apple made contactless transactions even more convenient with the new “Tap to Pay” feature on iOS. The “Tap to Pay” tech turns users’ compatible iPhones into payment terminals to receive payment via a simple tap of a credit/debit card or digital wallet.
Square has officially launched Tap to Pay on iPhone for its millions of sellers in the United States for them to easily get started and enjoy a convenient commerce experience.
Square Point of Sale (POS) iOS app now supports Tap to Pay
As per the announcement, the updated Square Point of Sale iOS app is compatible with Tap to Pay on iPhone. The capability not only lets sellers of all sizes accept contactless payments directly from their iPhones but also cuts down the cost of purchasing additional hardware required for contactless payments.
To accept payments, Square merchants only have to open the Square POS app, log in to the sale and present their iPhones to the customers for them to Tap to Pay via credit or debit card, Apple Pay, or third-party digital wallet through safe and secure processing. Apple doesn’t store card numbers on the device or on its servers.
Franco Salerno, owner of Warrington, Pennsylvania-based Darianna Bridal & Tuxedo and an Early Access Program participant said that the new contactless payment service offers sellers and buyers a new convenient way to make transactions, especially for younger shoppers who prefer to use digital wallets or contactless cards.
“Deploying Tap to Pay on iPhone has really enhanced the retail experience we’re able to provide our shoppers, in multiple ways.
Our young customer base would rather use their digital wallets or contactless cards, and rolling out Tap to Pay on iPhone has helped us meet our shoppers’ preferences with a convenient solution that also brings an air of sophistication to the buying experience. What’s more, given our store’s large footprint, we’ve been able to speed up purchases by bringing the checkout process to wherever our shoppers are.”
