The new Surface Go 2 will have a larger 10.5-inch display and thinner bezels, according to recent leaks. The leak also claims that the display of the new Surface Go 2 would have enhanced and sharper resolution of 1920 x 1280. Powered by an Intel Pentium Gold processor, the expected retail price for the base model of Surface Go 2 will be $399, while a variant with a faster Intel Core m3 processor will also be available.
Surface Go 2 will have a 10.5-inch display
According to Windows Central, Microsoft has created a larger display on Surface Go 2 by reducing bezels, instead of increasing the overall size of the tablet. The size of the device would be the same as the original Surface Go. The bezels would still not be thin like Surface Pro X but more like Surface Laptop 3’s bezels. Besides Microsoft, other companies are increasing display size by reducing bezels across smartphones and tablets. Rumors claim that Apple’s new flagship iPhone 12, the new iPad Air and 13-inch MacBook Pro would all have larger displays and smaller bezels.
This on-going focus on increasing screen size instead of the device size – we believe this is a welcome change. A larger screen helps in managing and performing tasks in multiple applications at the same time, more easily and efficiently.

We are big supporters of healthy competition. Concurrent to the news of a new Surface Go 2 tablet, is the news of a new iPad Air. To capture consumer market, tech companies are updating devices with better hardware and software. It will be interesting to see how the two devices with similar functionality and price ranges, Surface Go 2 and iPad Air, compete for a place in the market.
