Users who like to work out with Peloton can now use their Apple Watch to track their work out data as they exercise. The company had already worked with Apple Health on iPhone for tracking workouts but the new app designed for it can give more accurate data about workouts. It was named “Netflix of the workout world” by Forbes magazine, providing you unlimited access to workouts.
Peloton describes its new app for Apple watch as follows,
“Introducing the Peloton App for Apple Watch. Track your heart rate in all workouts and your pace and distance during indoor runs. These improved controls and metrics are easily accessible, so you’ll never have to slow down during a workout.”
The app focuses on presenting heart rate and workout status from indoors. It is a starting point for your own workout system. It makes it easier for users to glance at their metrics at any time while enabling buttons to turn their music up or down by adjusting the Digital Crown.
Peloton’s blog post states:
“Runners will especially benefit from the app with all-new pace and distance metrics that will be displayed both on your Watch and iPhone during indoor runs. What’s more, all of your workouts will benefit since your Watch will now act as a heart rate monitor, displaying your heart rate on both your Watch and iPhone. This way, you can see how hard you’re working as you move within zones. And since all of these metrics will be saved, after class you’ll be able to see detailed graphs to capture your efforts.”
Peloton subscribes do not necessarily have to be Apple Music subscribers. A special feature is available for users who avail both services. Peloton’s treadmill machines integrate Apple and music can be played from Apple Music in workout sessions. Classes have specifically designed playlists that help trainers in workout sessions. iPhone users can easily log their workout data from their bike or treadmills to Apple’s Health App.
However, right now, using Apple Watch to track workouts can get a bit confusing at times as Peloton products use tracking methods which are somewhat different from Apple’s. This can lead to competing results for information such as burnt calories, distance traveled, etc. Apple watch can be trusted in such clashes in information, as it calibrates to the user’s movement over time.
Peloton app for Apple Watch is currently offering a free 90-day trial. The digital membership for the app starts at $12.99/month after the trial. For Peloton Bike or Treadmill owners, the App is free with their membership. Just log in to your account in the app for your complimentary, unlimited access.
