The Internetz are getting populated with news of Verizon having acquired 2 new domains, iPhoneonVerizon.com and iPhoneforVerizon.com which make it seem like iPhone 4 might be landing on Verizon really soon. This isn’t proper confirmation since companies register/buy such domain names all the time to domain name squatters to scoop them up.
The registration information for both domains is the same. The domains were registered by GoDaddy to Jack Benton and then transferred to Mark Monitor domain service. Both these domain names currently point to Jack Benton’s sites. Jack Benton also owns the domain names iPhoneonSprint.com and iPhoneonATT.comWhile highly unlikely, previous rumors have said that the Verizon iPhone 4 would have an internal antenna, a larger screen and a faster 1.2 Ghz processor.
There were rumors in 2010 that Verizon iPhone 4 might launch in January 2011, which seems about right, now that we’ve seen this domain name transfer. Then in October, the Verizon iPhone 4 was said to be at ‘Engineering Verification Test’ stage.
Would we hear news about the Verizon iPhone 4 during CES? A huge number of users are waiting for a CDMA iPhone 4. Or would we have to wait until July this year, to hear for an announcement by Apple. Or this could all just be wishful thinking just like the last few years.
Only time will tell.
