Apple has recently rolled out a series of updates for its device lineup, including visionOS 1.3, macOS 14.6, tvOS 17.6, and watchOS 10.6. These updates are a precursor to the upcoming major releases expected in September, such as iOS 18, watchOS 11, and macOS Sequoia.
The current updates focus primarily on performance enhancements and bug fixes, setting the stage for the forthcoming significant upgrades.
Among the new features introduced, tvOS 17.6’s “Catch Up” feature stands out. This feature is designed for sports enthusiasts using Apple’s TV app, allowing them to catch up on a game in progress by viewing a series of key highlights. Initially available for MLS games through the MLS Season Pass, this feature may expand to other sports in the future. The tech giant also released iOS 17.6 and iPadOS 17.6, bringing important bug fixes, security updates, as well as the new “Catch Up” feature.
Another noteworthy update is for macOS 14.6, which now supports multiple displays on the base model M3 MacBook Pro, aligning it with the capabilities already present in the M3 MacBook Air.
VisionOS 1.3, now available for the Vision Pro headset, includes refinements to features like Personas and EyeSight, improving the overall immersive experience.
Security is a significant focus in these updates, addressing over two dozen vulnerabilities across the operating systems. Apple encourages users to install these updates to benefit from critical security patches that protect against potential threats, such as unauthorized access to sensitive data or app termination due to malicious files.
While the updates may not introduce major new features, they are crucial for maintaining device security and performance. As Apple gears up for the next big OS releases, these updates ensure a smooth transition and prepare the devices for the new features and improvements expected later this year.
Users can install these updates directly through the Settings app on their devices.
