Lead times for the brand new iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max have reached up to six weeks. They are expected to increase further in November as the forthcoming holiday season inches closer.
Apple’s new iPhone 14 Pro models are proving to be extremely popular with consumers
In a note to investors (via AppleInsider), Wedbush analysts said that the iPhone 14 Pro models are seeing strong demand. Specifically, analysts Daniel Ives and John Katsingris said that the iPhone 14 Pro mix up to up 85% to 90%. For comparison, the iPhone 13 Pro mix was an estimated 60% to 65% at the same time last year.
Consumer demand for the iPhone 14 Pro is 8% to 10% higher than what the firm was expecting. Adding onto this, the Cupertino tech giant could face issues with demand and supply if orders keep on increasing into early next year. Given that the holiday season is approaching, demand for the Pro iPhones will likely skyrocket.
In fact, it was recently reported by TF Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo that Apple has asked its main iPhone supplier Foxconn to increase production of the iPhone 14 Pro by 10%. More Apple suppliers should “also receive order increase requests for iPhone 14 Pro models from Apple in the next few weeks.”
If the orders for the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus continue to fall flat in comparison to the iPhone 14 Pro, the Cupertino tech giant could cut orders for them significantly.
Wedbush analysts also revealed that sales are particularly strong in China. As of right now, 30% of Chinese iPhone owners are expected to upgrade to the new lineup.
This year’s Pro models feature a new display cutout called the Dynamic Island, the A16 Bionic chip, a 48MP camera system, and more. The display of this year’s Pro models is also 120Hz and supports an always-on display functionality.
