What’s new in watchOS 8.1 beta 1?
It is unclear as to what is new in watchOS 8.1, at the time of writing. Apple has not posted any release notes on the Developer Center. It is possible that this update only contains minor bug fixes and under-the-hood optimizations, as well as support for the iPhone 13 or Apple Watch Series 7. However, this will largely depend on when watchOS 8.1 is released to the public so this is merely speculation on our behalf.
Apple just released watchOS 8 which contains a number of new workouts, new watch faces, redesigned Home app, fall detection update, new Mindfulness app, Focus mode, and more.
Is your Apple Watch compatible with watchOS 8.1?

- Apple Watch SE
- Apple Watch Series 5
- Apple Watch Series 4
- Apple Watch Series 3
How to install watchOS 8.1 beta on Apple Watch?
Let us make it clear: you should not install watchOS 8.1 on your Apple Watch unless you are a developer or an enthusiast who lives close to an Apple service center. If the update bricks your Apple Watch, there is no way to downgrade it at home, unlike iPhone and iPad.
With the obligatory warning out of the way, here is what you need to do to install the beta. Sign up to Apple Developer Center (costs $99/year), or get the profile from Reddit. Download the beta profile using your paired iPhone by opening its link in Safari. When asked, install the profile on your Apple Watch. Once done, go to Settings > General > Software Update and wait for watchOS 8.1 to show up. Place your Apple Watch on its charger and don’t remove it until the update is complete.
Enjoy testing the new beta!
