watchOS 8.4.1 released for Apple Watch Series 4 and later

Apple has released watchOS 8.4.1 for Apple Watch Series 4 and later models. The update is a minor bug fix release and Apple has not shared details of the specific changes.

watchOS 8.4 was released last week and featured a fix for a charging issue with certain models. Despite the major jump in version number, it was also a minor release and did not feature any major new features.

Apple has not shared any details in the release notes for this new software update, and simply mentioned that it features bug fixes.

watchOS 8.4.1 includes bug fixes for Apple Watch Series 4 and later.

The previous major software update was watchOS 8.3 which shipped with a number of new features. This included Apple Music Voice Plan, App Privacy Report, ECG support for China, and Assistive Touch support for older Apple Watch models.

Apple is currently testing watchOS 8.5 with developers and public beta testers. The company has not shared any release notes and neither have we found new user-facing features in the first beta so far.

This list excludes Apple Watch Series 3, which also just received watchOS 8.4 update last week, but did not receive this new minor update.

Install watchOS 8.4.1

To download and install watchOS 8.4.1, place your Apple Watch on its charger and make sure that it has 50% battery. On your iPhone, go to Watch app > General > Software Update. Wait for the new update to appear and start the installation process. During the update process, ensure that you are connected to a stable Wi-Fi network, and your iPhone is in close proximity to your Apple Watch.
