WhatsApp gets new features in iOS update

WhatsApp has released a new update for iPhone, version 2.12.14, with a number of new features which include a new photos and videos viewer, content sharing from third party cloud apps, solid color wallpapers for chat backgrounds and zoom functionality during video playback.

The new update borrows the Photos app viewer design to display photos and videos shared inside WhatsApp. This makes it easy to scrub through a lot of content. Similar to the Photos app, you can now zoom into videos during playback.

The other major update includes support for the iCloud file picker. This allows users to share photos or videos from other cloud storage apps such as Google Drive or Dropbox.

Here’s the complete change log for the new update:

  • Improved design for browsing photos and videos
  • You can now share photos or videos from other apps installed on your phone, like Google Drive, Dropbox, or Microsoft OneDrive. When you open “Photo/Video Library”, just tap “Choose from another app…”.
  • Pick from a variety of solid colors for your chat background
  • Zoom in on videos while they’re playing

The update is live in the App Store. Check out the updates tab in App Store to download it or if you don’t have it installed, download it from the link below.
