WhatsApp is rolling out a new feature on iOS beta called the ‘group icon editor’. The new editing feature will allow iPhone users to create personalized iMessage-like icons for their group chats.
Previously, it was discovered that WhatsApp is working on a feature to adjust the visibility of their ‘Last Seen’ status on a new contact-to-contact basis. This will allow users to select which contacts can see their last seen timestamp. The company also testing a new payment shortcut in chat on iOS that enables iPhone users to send payments directly from the app. The new payment feature is introduced on Android in India and Brazil.
iPhone users can now create personalized group icons on WhatsApp
WaBetaInfo explains that starting today, iOS users will see a new “Emoji & Sticker” option in the Group Info section to quickly create a customized group icon using an editor to select their preferred background color and animation.
You could create temporary groups and you might have no idea about which icon to use. The group icon editor, available on WhatsApp for iOS, allows you to generate an icon choosing the background color, an emoji or sticker.
To access the new option, users simply have to open the Group Info and on selecting the camera icon to change the group’s icon, users will see the new “Emoji & Sticker” option to take up the minor creative project to represent what each group means for the participants. Having said that, some iOS beta testers might have to wait a little longer to enjoy the new feature.
The feature is available for iOS beta testers today, and it will be introduced on WhatsApp beta for Android in the coming weeks. If you don’t see the option called “Emoji & Sticker” it means your WhatsApp account is still not ready to receive the feature, but more activation will be following when the next updates are out.
