It has been a few months since WhatsApp started working on a new Reactions feature. According to a new report, the company is still making adjustments to the highly-anticipated function. Message reactions are reported to be available in individual chat threads and group chat threads allowing users to react to a message using different emojis.
WhatsApp Reaction feature spotted under development
As reported by WABetainfo, Reactions will be available “in individual chat threads and group chats.” The report also states that everyone will be able to view who reacted to a message simply by viewing the reaction info tab.
In the screenshot provided by the publication, you can see that all reactions are listed in the first tab called “All”, then WhatsApp groups who reacted to a message using a specific emoji, in a separate tab. This means that everyone in a group chat can click on the tab to see who reacted to a message.
WABetainfo notes that users will be able to “react to a specific message once and reactions are limited to six emojis.” Currently, the available reactions are Like, Love, Laugh, Surprised, Sad, and Thanks.
As for when the feature will be released, the publication says it is still under development and there is not a set timeframe for its release. In addition, the feature has been spotted during the development of WhatsApp beta for iOS but the company is reportedly also working on bringing the same functionality to Android as well.
Recently, WABetaInfo also uncovered an improved version of the playback speed feature WhatsApp is working on. In an upcoming update, the company will introduce a new playback speed button for audio messages. Currently, users can only increase the speed of voice notes sent or received, not of forwarded audio messages.
