Leaker WABetaInfo has found that WhatsApp is testing a new ‘review’ feature on iOS. The new feature will allow users to listen to voice messages before sending them. Although the messaging app already lets users listen to voice messages before sending them out, the new feature will improve that by making it more visible.
WhatsApp has been introducing new capabilities on iOS and macOS platforms. Recently, the messaging app released support for video and voice calls on Mac, and updated its iPhone app with the ability to view larger media preview and group controls for disappearing messages. WhatsApp is working to allow users to transfer chat history from iPhone to Android and vice versa.
WhatsApp is working to make voice messages easier for iOS users
As per the leaker:
After enabling for beta testers the feature that allows using of different playback speeds to listen to voice messages, WhatsApp is now starting to develop another feature for voice messages.
You will be able to listen to voice messages before sending them.
WhatsApp already had a similar feature to review voice messages, but the way to trigger the feature was very cumbersome, for example switching to a different section before sending the voice message.
This new feature (currently under development) will add a new Review button, that you can easily tap to listen to the voice message.
Previously, the leaker reported that the platform is testing three playback speeds for voice messages on iOS: ranging from normal to up to 2x speed. The faster speed options are designed for lengthy voice messages or when users are in a rush.
WABetaInfo also claimed that the audio and video messaging app’s parent company, Facebook, was working on merging its two messaging platforms, Messenger and WhatsApp. Facebook tries to build interoperability among all of its platforms. It even tried to introduce sharing WhatsApp users’ data with Facebook but the controversial update never materialized due to global backlash.
