WABetaInfo has discovered that WhatsApp is working on new features for business accounts like redesigned interface for the “Linked Devices” section and subscription plan.
Recently, the company announced major changes to the platform. Starting with group chats, WhatsApp has introduced Communities to add multiple groups under one umbrella, support for up to 2GB files, emoji reactions, and more. It also released new features to the voice message player like the ability to listen to audio messages outside of chat, faster playback on regular and forwarded messages, and other updates.
WhatsApp is working on a free subscription plan with additional features for business accounts
WhatsApp is working on two new updates for Business accounts: a redesigned “Linked Device” section and a subscription plan. Integrated with each other new “Linked Device” UI will allow subscribers of the new plan to add up to 10 accounts. It is also mentioned that more features will be added to the subscription plan.
WhatsApp is working on a redesigned interface for the “Linked Device” section, exclusively for WhatsApp Business accounts.
The subscription plan is reserved for WhatsApp business accounts and offers additional features to businesses. For example, you know you can normally link up to 4 devices when using multi-device, but if you subscribe to their new plan, you will be able to link up to 10 devices. More additional services will be announced in the future.
More importantly, the report clarifies that the upcoming subscription plan will not have a monthly fee and WhatsApp will stay a free-to-use app. The new features are not available currently and will be released in a future update.
Even if WhatsApp is working on a subscription plan, it does not mean that you need to pay to use WhatsApp when the subscription plan is released: nothing changes for users and the app will always be free to use. The subscription plan is totally optional and it offers additional services to business accounts, like Twitter Blue for Twitter. If a business needs those additional services, they can consider to subscribe.
