WABetaInfo has discovered that WhatsApp is testing a new “Undo” feature on iOS. Found in the latest WhatsApp beta for iOS 2.21.240.17 update, the new feature will be available to specific beta testers which will allow them to quickly edit their status updates. Status update on WhatsApp is an Instagram Stories-like feature that allows users to post photos and videos they wish to share with their contacts.
Recently, WhatsApp introduced a new way for users to view status updates of Business accounts directly from Business Info and an in-built sticker maker on the web which allows users to edit photos to create personalized stickers to share with their friends and family on the app. It was also discovered that the company is testing message reactions for users to react to messages in individual or group chats via different emojis.
WhatsApp to make it conveniently delete status updates via the new “Undo” option
As per the report, the new “Undo” option will appear momentarily after posting a status update. Upon selecting the Undo option, the status update will automatically delete for everyone.
After publishing the status update, the option “Undo” will be momentarily visible: if you select it, the status update will be automatically deleted for everyone. This shortcut is useful when you post something by mistake and you want to quickly delete it. Today, after installing the new WhatsApp beta for iOS 2.21.240.17 update, which also brings fixes when posting new status updates, more iOS beta testers can use the same feature!
This feature is available for some iOS beta testers today. If it’s not available for your WhatsApp account, it means it has not been rolled out for you yet and the next beta updates may help your account to receive the feature.
More exciting news for iOS users is the company is developing a native iPad app with multi-device support and a Mac app using the macOS Catalyst.
