A reliable source, WABetaInfo reports that the latest version of WhatsApp beta for iOS 2.21.220.15 includes a new Picture-in-Picture (PiP) interface to play videos from YouTube, Instagram, and other platforms within the app. The new design was firstly launched on WhatsApp beta for Android and is now rolling out on iOS with an improved control bar and more.
Recently, the company extended end-to-end encryption support for saved chat history on iCloud and Google Drive and Google announced the easy transfer of WhatsApp chat from iPhone to Android 12 devices. Currently, the feature is available on Samsung Galaxy and all Pixel models running on Andriod 12 update and its support will be introduced in the new smartphones that launch with the Android 12 update.
WhatsApp to update PiP interface with new full-screen mode, and shortcuts
As discovered by WABetaInfo, the messaging app will update the PiP window with a control bar to easily move the Picture-in-Picture view, end the video and play it in full-screen mode.
After rolling out a new interface on WhatsApp beta for Android 2.21.22.3 to watch videos from Instagram, YouTube (and more) directly within the app, WhatsApp is now releasing the same interface on app’s beta for iOS as well!
The new interface implements a control bar: it allows moving the picture-in-picture view easily, and it also implements some shortcuts, like the possibility to end the video and to show it in full-screen mode.
It is also mentioned that some iOS beta testers might see subtle changes after playing a YouTube video within the app like the video immediately play in full-screen mode. Currently, the new PiP interface is available to select iOS beta testers and others might receive the update in a few days.
Another news related to the messaging app also changed its branding to WhatsApp by Meta after its parent company Facebook changed its name to ‘Meta’ to reflect its progress into creating a metaverse.
