Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference has started and as always, the keynote begins by rounding up the latest statistics regarding the conference, its platforms and so on. We summarize the latest updates from Apple below:

Apple WWDC 2016

Stats from WWDC 2016:

  • 27th year for WWDC
  • 5000+ total attendees
  • Attendees from over 74 countries
  • 13 million registered developers
  • Over 70% of attendees attended the conference for the very first time
  • 100 attendees under 18 years of age, the youngest only 9
  • App Store started 8 years ago with 500 apps
  • Recently passed 2 million apps in App Store
  • 130 billion downloads for the 2 million apps
  • About to pass $50 billion paid directly to developers

Those are really big numbers for the App Store. Apple did not go into details as to what the break up is between iPhone and iPad apps but it is safe to say that either way, the numbers would be big on their own.

Apple is announcing watchOS 3, macOS Sierra, iOS 10 and the next tvOS updates today. Stay tuned for our coverage on the latest from WWDC.
