Xbox Cloud Gaming is now available on iPhone, iPad and PC via browser

Microsoft has announced the availability of Xbox Cloud Gaming on iOS, iPadOS, and windows 10 Pcs via browser in 22 countries. Now all Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members can stream a diverse catalog of games from the Xbox Game Pass library.

Microsoft began testing Xbox Cloud Gaming on iOS in 2020. But things got a little heated when Apple rejected the company’s Xbox Cloud Gaming app. The Cupertino tech giant objected that xCloud can only offer games that meet App Store’s guidelines and have to be approved by the digital store’s review process. Therefore, the app was never launched on the iOS App Store because it was not possible to review Xbox Game Pass vast library. However, the companies found a workaround to bring Xbox Cloud Gaming to iPhones via web browsers.

With billions of active Windows 10 PCs, iOS devices and Android phones, we want you to have new opportunities to play the deepest, most immersive games whenever and wherever you choose. Simply put, we’re bringing the Xbox experience directly to the devices you use most.

The company explains that players will be connected to Xbox hardware in a Microsoft datacenter for users to enjoy the seamless gameplay on their devices. In addition, users’ game saves will be the same wherever and whenever they start streaming, so players will be able to continue from wherever they left, connect with their friends and play through the Xbox network. To enjoy more than 100 games, all members have to log in to Xbox.com via Chrome, Safari, and Edge browsers.

We’re also making significant improvements to the overall experience: Xbox Cloud Gaming is now powered by custom Xbox Series X hardware. We’ve been upgrading Microsoft datacenters around the globe with the fastest, most powerful Xbox hardware to give you faster load times, improved frame rates, and an experience of a new generation of gaming. To ensure the lowest latency, highest quality experience across the broadest set of devices, we will be streaming at 1080p and up to 60fps. Going forward we’ll continue to innovate and add more features to enhance your cloud gaming experience.

Players can use compatible Xbox wireless controllers and mobile gaming accessories for comfortable play game sessions. In addition, iOS users can also use Backbone One. Catherine Gluckstein, Vice President & Head of Product, Xbox Cloud Gaming said that;

Today marks a key milestone in our journey to bring the Xbox experience to all gamers, and we can’t wait for you to begin playing. I remember about three years ago, the first time I picked up a phone and played a cloud game, using nothing but touch controls. It’s a moment I’ll never forget, where the beauty of the graphics mixed with the creativity of technology to create something truly magical. So, from Team Xbox to you, we hope you experience more joy and connection through gaming anywhere and everywhere.
