Instagram now lets you reply with photos and videos to Instagram Stories, on iOS and Android. In the latest update, version 10.2, the app has taken the reply game to the next level by giving you the option to comment on anyone’s instagram story by text, photo or video.
You can either shoot a picture or video or choose a photo from the Photos app (taken within the last 24 hours). Video replies can also be sent as boomerangs or a shot clips. The app also allows you to send artistic replies by letting you add stickers, use face filters or rewind. But the fun does not stop there, you can also create and use stickers of the Story which can be resized and placed anywhere on your reply photo or video. The sticker of the original Story only be visible to the receiver.
How to reply to Instagram Stories using photo or video
While viewing a story, tap on the camera icon on the bottom left of the screen, next to the send message bar, to access the in-app camera to send your response as a photo or video. Just like text replies to Stories, the photo or video replies will go the receiver’s Direct inbox. The reply will disappear after the receiver views it. If the receiver takes a screen shot or replays it, the sender will be notified. Oh yes, this is another similarity to Snapchat.
Instagram stories became a part of the app last year. Although Stories is a feature copied from a rival app, Snapchat, the feature has been a success since its release. Instagram reported in June, 2017 that Stories has 250 million daily users. In order to increase the usage more, the company last month introduced the ability to replay live videos for 24 hours and now, added photos and videos reply to stories to make Direct an interactive inbox.
Today’s update is just one of the ways we’re working to make Direct the best place to have fun, visual conversations with friends on Instagram.
You can update Instagram to the latest version to enjoy these new features.
